Bones MIDI converts audio you record or import into MIDI entirely on your device.
Data collection
Bones MIDI has no accounts, no analytics, and no advertising or tracking SDKs. The only time anything is sent to us is when you choose to send feedback (see below).
Your audio and MIDI
Audio you record or import stays on your device, and transcription runs locally using an on-device model. Audio leaves your device only if you choose to include a recording with feedback you send.
The MIDI the app produces also stays on your device, with one exception that you choose. In the iPhone and iPad plugin, Save to Files saves the finished .mid file into your own iCloud Drive, so the host app and your other devices can reach it. That file goes to your iCloud account and nowhere else; nothing is sent to us or to any third party. The Mac app and the Mac plugin have no iCloud folder and never write one.
Microphone
Bones MIDI requests microphone access solely to record audio you choose to capture. Recordings are stored locally and are only transmitted if you include one in feedback you send.
Feedback you send
When you tap Send on the feedback form — in the app, the plugin, or at bonesmidi.com/report — we receive:
- your message;
- your email address, only if you enter one (used only to acknowledge and reply to your report);
- basic technical details shown on the form, such as app version, operating system and device model, and which screen you sent it from;
- a recording, only if you turn on the option to include it (off by default): its audio, the MIDI and transcription details needed to reproduce the problem, and whether you have purchased the unlock. On the website, an attachment only if you choose one.
Nothing is sent until you tap Send. Reports are stored with Cloudflare, which hosts this service, and delivered to the developer by email. Attached recordings and files are deleted automatically 30 days after we receive them, unless we ask you and you agree to let us keep one longer. Your written message and technical details are kept so problems can be tracked and fixed; email contact@bonesmidi.com to have them deleted. We don’t sell this information or use it for advertising or tracking.
Third parties
Bones MIDI uses no third-party SDKs, advertising, or tracking. Feedback you choose to send is hosted by Cloudflare as described above.
Children
Bones MIDI does not knowingly collect data from children. Please don’t send feedback containing personal information about a child.
